How this page counts

What is counted
A storage project that has gained its consent together with a firm connection or delivery date, or that has passed a dated commitment milestone.
What is left out
Projects that are only proposed, applications still in planning, and projects whose date has lapsed.

Why it matters to a supplier

  • A dated milestone is the point at which transformers, switchgear and main plant are ordered, and some of that equipment takes a year to arrive.
  • Megawatts committed by region show where the grid is being reinforced first, and where civils and electrical contractors will be busiest.
  • Counting only committed projects avoids the usual trap of storage statistics: pipelines that are mostly wishful thinking.

Questions

How is this different from a list of battery storage projects?
Most lists count every project ever proposed. This page counts only projects that have committed to a date in the last weeks, which is a much smaller and much more useful number.
Do hybrid solar and storage sites count here?
Yes, and on the solar page too. A site that builds both needs both kinds of supplier.
