Operator licence check

Look up a UK company’s goods vehicle operator licence by its name or licence number, and see what it may run and what it runs now.

A licence shows today. An application shows what is next.

Before a fleet grows, its operator applies to add vehicles or a site. Those applications are the first public sign, and Stanfell turns them into leads for the suppliers who sell to hauliers, with the deadline and how to reach the company.

See who is applying to growStanfell is where suppliers read the cards, with the company and how to reach it. Try it with a work email.

Questions

How do I check an operator licence?

Type the company's name or its licence number above. You will see the licence type, its status, its traffic area, and how many vehicles and trailers it allows.

What is the difference between authorised and specified vehicles?

Authorised is the most the licence allows. Specified is how many vehicles are on the licence now. An operator with room between the two may add vehicles without applying for more.

Why can't I find an operator?

This check covers goods vehicle licences held by limited companies and LLPs in Great Britain. Sole traders, partnerships and bus and coach operators are not listed, and a company may trade under a different name from the one on its licence. Try the licence number or the official search.

Is this the official record?

No. It is a copy of public licence records, refreshed regularly. Before you rely on a licence for a contract or a loan, confirm it on the official search.
